A major step forward in emergency medical care has just been announced in Arkansas.
The Russellville Fire Department announced it is now the state’s first ground EMS unit to carry blood products, a move intended to speed life‑saving treatment for trauma patients.

The City of Russellville announced that its fire department will now transport blood products on ambulances. This makes Russellville the first ground EMS service in Arkansas to do so. The initiative is intended to reduce the time to administer transfusions when seconds count.
Carrying blood in the field aims to deliver lifesaving care faster for trauma victims. Pre‑hospital access to blood can improve survival odds by providing advanced treatment earlier. The department says the service will be used for severe injuries where immediate transfusion is critical.
