Woodruff County is mourning the loss of a cherished public servant, whose dedication touched many lives across the community.
The Woodruff County Sheriff’s Office announced that longtime dispatcher Terrie McCabe, who served the county for over 35 years in multiple roles, has passed away.

Terrie McCabe spent more than three decades serving Woodruff County as a sheriff’s office dispatcher, tax office staff member, EMT, and paramedic. She was described as the definition of commitment. Her colleagues highlighted her compassion and unwavering care.
The Sheriff’s Office delayed sharing the announcement to allow her family a moment to begin processing the tremendous loss. The loss is felt deeply across the entire county. The office expressed heartfelt sorrow.
At this time, no memorial arrangements have been announced, but the office will update the community when information is provided and the family permits. The community is asked to keep her family, friends, and coworkers in thoughts during this difficult time.
