A major wildfire erupted in northern Arkansas, prompting a massive multi‑agency response that has captured community attention.

The Arkansas Forestry Division joined local fire departments to help contain a multi‑acre blaze that threatened a structure and nearby homes in the Bergman/Zinc Fire District, with crews working over four hours to bring the fire under control.

Multi‑Acre Structure Fire in Bergman/Zinc District

At approximately 1:50 p.m. this afternoon, the Harmon Fire Department was paged about heavy black smoke in the northern part of its district. Firefighters saw the smoke while en route and identified the fire as being in the Bergman or Zinc Fire District, involving a structure. Additional departments—including the Bergman Volunteer Fire Department, Harrison Fire Department, and Zinc Volunteer Fire Department—were requested.

When Bergman units arrived, they found multiple acres burning, one structure on fire, and other structures in danger. Assistance was further requested from the Cottonwood Fire Department, Lead Hill Fire Department, Pyatt Rural Fire & Defense, and the Arkansas Forestry Division. The scene required coordinated effort to protect property.

Harmon responded with one engine, one brush truck, two tankers, and six personnel, remaining on scene for more than four hours to contain the fire and safeguard nearby structures. NARMC EMS was also on scene to help keep firefighters cool. Their combined work focused on containment and protection.

The blaze was eventually contained, though the exact extent of damage and any injuries are not yet known. No information about the fire’s cause has been released at this time.
