A 19-year-old Walnut Ridge man was among two people killed in a Friday night crash in Sebastian County that also involved another man from Walnut Ridge, according to an Arkansas State Police preliminary fatal crash report.
Arkansas State Police identified the Walnut Ridge victim as Landon Ellis, 19.
The other person killed was Susan Jones, 71, of Fort Smith, who was identified in the preliminary report as a pedestrian.
The crash happened at approximately 9:01 p.m. Friday, August 7, 2026, at Frontier Road and Veterans Avenue in Barling, east of Fort Smith.
According to the preliminary Arkansas State Police report, Carlos Sifuentes, 22, of Walnut Ridge, was driving a 2022 Honda Civic westbound on Frontier Road.
Ellis was listed as a passenger in that vehicle.
State Police said Jones was riding a mobility scooter north from Veterans Avenue and was attempting to cross Frontier Road.
According to the initial crash narrative, Jones entered the path of the westbound Honda and was struck by the front of the vehicle in the westbound lane.
Jones and Ellis were both listed as deceased in the Arkansas State Police report.
The report lists Sifuentes as the driver of the Honda but does not list him among the injured. No other injuries were reported on the preliminary report provided.
The State Police report also lists a 2017 Chevrolet Sonic and a 2014 Freightliner among the vehicles associated with the crash. However, the preliminary narrative describes the collision involving the Honda Civic and Jones and does not provide additional details explaining the involvement of the Chevrolet or Freightliner.
Arkansas State Police reported that the weather was clear and the roadway was dry when the crash occurred.
The report states that next of kin had been notified.
The crash was investigated by Arkansas State Police Sgt. Josh Porter.
Arkansas State Police designated the incident as Fatal Crash 273 and Accident 261 for 2026.
The deaths of Ellis and Jones remain part of the preliminary State Police investigation, and information contained in preliminary fatal crash reports may be updated as the investigation continues.
