Three chain‑reaction crashes on I‑40 near Plumerville
The first crash occurred when an eastbound vehicle left the roadway and hit the cable barrier on Interstate 40 near Plumerville. As traffic slowed to a standstill, two additional crashes followed, creating a chain‑reaction of collisions. All three incidents happened within a short span of time on Friday.
Plumerville Fire Department and Hillcreek firefighters, alongside Med‑Tech EMS, responded quickly to the scene. They evaluated eight patients to determine who required further care. The cooperating agencies worked under the direction of the Conway County Fire Department.
Four of the injured were transported to St. Vincent Hospital in Morrilton, while one was taken to a hospital in Conway. The remaining patients received on‑scene treatment and were released. All injuries were reported as minor.
The Conway County Sheriff’s Office deployed units on the interstate to slow traffic and prevent further collisions. Arkansas State Police are conducting an investigation into the crashes. Photo credit for the incident images goes to Lila Hall.
