A Mountain View man is facing four felony charges following an investigation into allegations of sexual abuse involving a 12-year-old girl.
Thirty-four-year-old Jordan Michael Smith has been charged with 2 counts of second-degree sexual assault and 2 counts of sexual indecency with a child.
According to investigators, the case began after the girl reported alleged sexual abuse to a school counselor in April.
Authorities say the girl later participated in a forensic interview and described 2 alleged incidents involving inappropriate touching.
As investigators continued looking into the allegations, authorities searched Smith’s Mountain View residence and seized his cellphone. The device was sent to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory for examination as part of the investigation.
Smith has denied the allegations.
Smith was arrested in connection with the investigation and later released after posting a $40,000 bond.
The investigation remains ongoing, and the criminal charges have not been adjudicated.
Smith is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
