Harding Place Senior Living held a groundbreaking ceremony Thursday afternoon for a major expansion at the corner of Beebe-Capps Expressway and Benton Street.

The expansion will add approximately 108,000 square feet and 82 apartments to the senior living community near the Harding University campus.
Once the project is completed, Harding Place will have 198 apartments.
Harding University President Dr. Mike Williams and former Harding University President Dr. David Burks delivered welcoming remarks during the ceremony.
Burks announced that he will become the 1st new resident of the expansion when construction is completed.

Dr. Mike Justus, a member of the Harding University Board, offered the prayer before the ceremonial groundbreaking.
A large crowd attended the Thursday afternoon ceremony to celebrate the project and the continued growth of Harding Place Senior Living.
The expansion will provide additional senior living opportunities while strengthening the connection between Harding Place and the surrounding Searcy community.
A completion date for the project was not announced during the ceremony.
