A 21-year-old former Greenbrier student is being held on a $1,000,000 bond after authorities say she allegedly threatened to carry out a mass shooting at Eastside Elementary School.
Faulkner County Detention Center records identify the suspect as Abilene Almanza, 21. Booking information shows Almanza was arrested by the Greenbrier Police Department and booked at approximately 10:37 a.m. on July 21, 2026.
She is listed as facing a charge of threatening to commit a mass shooting.
Greenbrier Public Schools said federal and local law enforcement agencies acted quickly to identify, locate and arrest the suspect. District officials thanked the agencies involved for their swift response and continued dedication to protecting Greenbrier students, employees and families.
The school district said it will continue cooperating with investigators as the case moves forward.
Greenbrier Public Schools also reassured parents and guardians that comprehensive safety measures are in place across every district campus. Those precautions include an armed police officer assigned to each school.
No injuries were reported in connection with the alleged threat, and authorities have not announced any additional arrests.
The investigation remains ongoing. Additional information is expected to be released as it becomes available.
