20-Year-Old Killed, 2 Others Wounded in Cotton Plant Shooting; Arkansas State Police Investigating

The Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division is investigating a deadly shooting that left a 20-year-old man dead and 2 women hospitalized following an incident in Cotton Plant.

The Woodruff County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from Arkansas State Police after deputies responded Saturday, August 1, to a residence in the 300 block of Susie Avenue.

Deputies located 2 gunshot victims at the residence: 20-year-old Omari Chapple and 40-year-old Talisha Chapple, both of Woodruff County.

Omari Chapple was transported by ambulance to Unity Health–White County Medical Center in Searcy. Authorities said he later died from his injuries.

Talisha Chapple was airlifted to Regional One Health in Memphis, Tennessee. She was listed in stable condition at the time the information was released.

During the investigation, deputies learned that a 3rd victim, identified as 22-year-old Annisia Atkins of Cotton Plant, had also sustained a gunshot wound during the incident.

Atkins was transported by private vehicle to Forrest City Medical Center before being airlifted to Regional One Health in Memphis. Authorities said she remained in critical condition.

Arkansas State Police described the investigation as involving a homicide and battery. No information concerning a possible suspect, arrest or motive has been released.

The investigation remains active. Authorities said no additional information was available at the time of the announcement.
