Former Cabot Mayor Eddie Joe Williams has announced his campaign for mayor of Cabot, saying his experience in local and state government would help guide the growing Central Arkansas city.

Williams currently serves as Lonoke County Clerk. He previously represented the area in the Arkansas State Senate and served Cabot as both a city council member and mayor.
In his campaign announcement, Williams said his priorities would include responsible growth, public safety, traffic congestion, infrastructure, clean neighborhoods and support for local schools and businesses.
“Cabot is growing, and growth brings both opportunity and responsibility,” Williams said. “Our city needs experienced leadership, thoughtful planning and disciplined management.”
Williams said he and his wife chose Cabot nearly 40 years ago as the community where they wanted to raise their 4 daughters and build their future.
He credited Cabot’s schools, safe neighborhoods and strong sense of community with making the city the right choice for his family.
“Today, I am announcing my candidacy for mayor because I believe Cabot must continue to be that same clear choice for the next generation of families,” Williams said.
Williams pointed to his experience with transportation, budgets, government operations and long-term planning as qualifications for the mayor’s office.
Throughout his public-service career, Williams has served as a Cabot city council member, Cabot mayor, Arkansas state senator and Lonoke County Clerk.
“In each role, I stepped forward because I saw a need and was willing to serve,” Williams said. “I am running for mayor to bring that experience home to Cabot.”
Williams said he would listen to residents and make responsible decisions intended to preserve Cabot’s character while preparing the city for continued growth.
“My commitment is simple: I will work hard every day, listen to the people of this community and make responsible decisions that protect what makes Cabot special while preparing our city for what comes next,” Williams said.
Williams concluded his announcement by asking Cabot residents to support his campaign for mayor.
“Together, we can keep Cabot safe, clean, connected and one of the best places in Arkansas to live, work, raise a family and build a future,” Williams said.
