A tragic house fire in Stone County claimed the lives of 2 people early Sunday morning, according to local emergency responders.
The incident began around 7 a.m., when the Mountain View Fire Department was dispatched to assist the Allison-Sylamore Fire Department on a reported structure fire with people believed to be trapped inside.
Despite the efforts of firefighters and first responders, officials said 2 people were unable to escape the fire and died at the scene.
The home was destroyed in the blaze, leaving another family without a place to live.
Multiple agencies responded to the emergency, including the Allison-Sylamore Fire Department, Mountain View Fire Department, Mountain View Police Department, Stone County Sheriff’s Office, and Vital Link EMS.
Firefighters also recognized the efforts of Vital Link EMS, whose crews remained on scene throughout the incident, monitoring firefighters for heat-related illnesses during another dangerously hot day across north-central Arkansas.
The cause of the fire has not been released, and the incident remains under investigation.
Community members and first responders are asking for prayers for the victims’ families, as well as the family who lost their home in the fire.
