A familiar face at the Heber Springs Municipal Airport has received one of the community’s highest honors.

Following decades of dedicated service, Charlie Evans has officially retired, and the Heber Springs Municipal Airport has permanently dedicated its airport field as Charlie Evans Field in recognition of his outstanding contributions.
For years, Evans has been a welcoming presence at the airport, earning the respect of pilots, visitors, and local residents through his hard work, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to aviation. His dedication helped make the airport a valued asset for the Heber Springs community and a destination known for its hospitality.

Airport officials said naming the airfield in his honor is a fitting tribute to a man whose legacy will continue to inspire future generations of aviators and visitors.
As Charlie begins his well-earned retirement, his name will forever remain part of the airport he helped serve so faithfully.
