Beebe Clerk/Treasurer Carol Westergren Elected President of Arkansas Municipal League

Beebe Clerk/Treasurer Carol Westergren has been elected president of the Arkansas Municipal League for the 2026-2027 term during the organization’s 92nd Annual Convention held June 17-19 in North Little Rock.

Westergren previously served as the League’s first vice president during 2025-2026 and as District 2 vice president during 2021-2022. She has also served on the Executive Committee, the Cities of the First Class Advisory Council, and the Pension Management Trust Board of Trustees.

In addition to her municipal service, Westergren is an active member of the Arkansas City Clerks, Recorders and Treasurers Association and has served on several of its committees.

She is also heavily involved with the American Legion Auxiliary. A member of Unit 91 in Beebe, Westergren currently serves as president and previously served as Department President for Arkansas during 2015-2016. Nationally, she has held leadership positions in Risk and Compliance, Children and Youth, and Education.

More than 800 elected officials, department heads, and municipal employees attended the convention, with overall participation exceeding 1,400 people.

Convention sessions focused on issues affecting Arkansas cities, including housing, economic development, municipal waste management, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, Freedom of Information Act compliance, infrastructure grants, and municipal finance training required under Act 671 of 2025.

The Arkansas Municipal League, founded in 1934, provides advocacy, education, and services to cities and towns throughout the state.
