Arkansas SkillsUSA State Conference Brings Students and Governor to Hot Springs

Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders attended the Arkansas SkillsUSA State Conference on Tuesday, April 14, as hundreds of students gathered in Hot Springs Arkansas for one of the state’s premier workforce development events.

The 2026 Arkansas SkillsUSA State Leadership & Skills Conference is being held April 13 through April 16 at the Hot Springs Convention Center, bringing together students from across Arkansas to compete in technical, trade, and leadership contests.

Competitions include Audio-Radio Production, welding, automotive repair, HVAC, cosmetology, and other high-demand career fields. Winners from the state event will advance to national competitions, representing Arkansas on a larger stage.

SkillsUSA is a national organization focused on preparing students for careers in skilled trades, technical professions, and service industries, including health occupations. The organization emphasizes hands-on learning, leadership development, and partnerships between educators and industry professionals.

Events throughout the conference include state championship competitions, leadership training sessions, and networking opportunities designed to help students transition from education into the workforce.

The annual conference continues to play a vital role in developing Arkansas’ future workforce, highlighting the importance of career and technical education across the state.
