12-Year-Old Ivy Eldridge Celebrates Successful Youth Turkey Hunt in Stone County Arkansas

A successful youth turkey hunt in Stone County is being celebrated after 12-year-old Ivy Eldridge harvested her 3rd tom.

According to her dad, Justin, this marks Ivy’s 1st year using a shotgun after taking her first 2 birds with a crossbow. The successful hunt happened around 12:30 p.m. with a clean 23-yard shot.

The achievement comes during a strong statewide youth season. Hunters ages 6 to 15 checked 1,494 turkeys during the special weekend hunt—about 30 more than last year and more than 300 higher than 2024 totals.

Wildlife official David Moscicki says the increase is likely due to excellent weather, strong reproduction in recent years, and more adult gobblers across Arkansas.

Wildlife officials also say the continued success of youth hunters highlights the importance of conservation efforts and mentoring the next generation outdoors.
