A routine lunch outing for Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders turned into a national headline after she was asked to leave a Little Rock restaurant, sparking widespread debate over politics, public conduct, and civility.

According to Governor Sanders, the incident occurred on March 13, 2026, at The Croissanterie, a well-known local restaurant in Little Rock. She said she was dining with 2 friends while accompanied by members of her Arkansas State Police Executive Protection Detail.

“Last week I was having lunch with 2 other moms at a restaurant when the owner approached a member of the State Police Executive Protection Detail and said my presence made their employees feel threatened and told us to leave,” Sanders said.

Officials say the group had been seated for approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes, had already paid for their meals, and left a tip before the situation escalated.

The restaurant owner reportedly cited employee concerns, saying Sanders’ presence made staff feel “threatened and uncomfortable” due to her political views.

As the Governor and her group exited, tensions escalated further when a man near staff allegedly shouted at the group and made a crude hand gesture.

The incident has since drawn national attention, reigniting conversations about political divisions, public behavior, and how elected officials are treated in everyday settings.

Supporters of the Governor have criticized the restaurant’s actions, while others argue businesses have the right to make decisions regarding their environment.
