Arkansas Mourns the death of Representative Stan Berry dies at 71 Serving since 2003

Arkansas State Representative Stan Berry has died at the age of 71.

Berry, a Republican served since 2003, represented District 44, covering portions of Pope County Arkansas and Van Buren County Arkansas. He was serving his 7th term in the Arkansas House of Representatives and was a longtime public servant in the River Valley.

Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders issued a statement following his passing, saying, “Bryan and I send our deepest sympathies to the family, friends, and colleagues of Representative Stan Berry. Stan was a solid conservative, a patriotic veteran, a faithful Christian, and a loving husband, father, and grandfather. It was a pleasure to serve the people of the River Valley and all of Arkansas alongside him and work to make our state a better place to call home. My condolences are with Stan’s wife, Mona, his children and grandchildren, and all his neighbors and friends.”

House Speaker Brian Evans also honored Berry, calling him a “true friend” who loved Arkansas and the people he served.

Berry served on the House Public Transportation Committee, the House State Agencies and Governmental Affairs Committee, and the Legislative Joint Auditing Committee during the 95th General Assembly.

Before his time in the legislature, Berry served in the National Guard and held roles on the Dover School Board, Dover City Council, and the Tri-County Water Commission. He attended Arkansas Tech University and was a member of the Dover Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Berry is survived by his wife Mona, 4 children, and 9 grandchildren. The cause of death has not been released.
