The City of Cabot has been recognized as the Best Overall City during the Volunteer Community of the Year Awards presented at last week’s Arkansas Municipal League Winter Conference.

Cabot Mayor Ken Kincade, representing a city of 26,569 residents, accepted the honor on behalf of the community and praised the organizations and volunteers who make Cabot’s success possible.
“It was a privilege to accept the award for Best Overall City,” Kincade said. “I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to Cabot City Beautiful and the many organizations and volunteers that contribute to our community. Your dedication to the annual Household Hazardous Waste Round-Up and various other projects throughout the year is what makes Cabot truly exceptional.”
City leaders say the award reflects Cabot’s commitment to environmental responsibility, civic pride, and volunteer engagement. As the community has grown, officials identified a need for safe disposal of household hazardous waste such as paint, oil, pesticides, and batteries, which can threaten waterways, wildlife, and public health if improperly discarded.
In response, Cabot City Beautiful, a department within city government, developed the annual Household Hazardous Waste Round-Up, providing residents with a safe and convenient disposal option.
Each year, more than 60 volunteers assist hundreds of residents, keeping thousands of pounds of hazardous materials out of local landfills. The event also promotes youth involvement, sustainability education, and strong partnerships among schools, civic groups, and city departments.
Organizers say the project has become a model of how community collaboration and volunteerism can create lasting environmental and public health benefits while strengthening neighborhood pride.
