Arkansas power outage winter preparedness

, , Leave a comment

Power companies across Arkansas are preparing for extreme winter weather and freezing temperatures expected to impact the state beginning January 23, urging customers to take steps now to stay safe and minimize risks if outages occur.

Entergy officials say utility crews are staged and ready to respond quickly if power interruptions develop. However, restoration efforts during extreme cold can take longer due to increased demand on the electrical system and challenging weather conditions.

“Restoring power safely and as quickly as possible is our top priority,” utility officials said in a statement.

Customers are encouraged to prepare their homes in advance. If power is lost, residents should unplug electric heaters and major appliances until service is restored to prevent electrical surges and reduce fire risk. Officials also recommend having flashlights, batteries, blankets, and alternative heat sources available.

Residents are advised to monitor updates from their local power providers and review winter preparedness tips on their utility company’s website.

Community members are also encouraged to check on elderly neighbors and those who may need assistance during prolonged cold conditions.
