Community members, healthcare staff, and local leaders gathered yesterday afternoon as White River Health officially broke ground on its Oncology Expansion and Renovation Project at 1710 Harrison Street. The event marked a major milestone in the organization’s ongoing mission to expand cancer services and deliver more patient-centered care across the region.

The project will modernize and enlarge existing oncology treatment areas, creating more welcoming and comfortable spaces designed to better support patients and families navigating cancer diagnoses.

CEO of White River Health, Steven Webb, shared his appreciation, saying:
“We had a tremendous turnout today for the groundbreaking of our new oncology and infusion center. We’re grateful for everyone who joined us and for the generous sponsorships and donations that helped make this project possible. Most importantly, we are thankful for what this expansion will mean for our patients—access to advanced, state-of-the-art cancer care right here at home, without the burden of traveling long distances. This project reflects White River Health’s long-term commitment to expanding access to high-quality, compassionate cancer care for our community.”

White River Health leaders say the expansion underscores a long-term commitment to providing high-quality cancer care close to home, ensuring patients have access to advanced treatment without leaving the community. With growing demand for oncology services, officials note the improvements will significantly enhance the patient experience and increase capacity for care.

Construction is now underway, and White River Health plans to share additional updates as the project progresses.
