Police were called after gunshots were reportedly fired near Vilonia.

Ryan N. Pemberton, a 43-year-old resident of Vilonia, was arrested on February 3, 2025, after an alleged dispute involving pets escalated dramatically. The incident unfolded in Faulkner County, bringing law enforcement to the scene where Pemberton’s address, 240 Billy Goat Mountain Rd.

Man Reportedly Pulled Gun During Dispute

According to case files, Pemberton’s dogs had killed animals owned by his neighbor, Rickey Harris. This led Harris to confront Pemberton, hoping for a resolution to the ongoing issue with the dogs.

Initially, the conversation appeared to be peaceful. Then everything changed.

The situation quickly deteriorated when Pemberton, after briefly retreating into his home, returned armed with a rifle. It happened as Harris was reportedly walking away.

Pemberton allegedly raised his weapon and fired a shot, hitting the front of Harris’s car. Police were called after this.

Following the shooting, law enforcement officers arrived to find evidence supporting Harris’s account, including a bullet hole in his vehicle and dashcam footage capturing the moment of gunfire.

The swift police action led to Pemberton’s arrest without further incident, with officers managing to retrieve the rifle involved in the assault from Pemberton’s home.

Pemberton was charged with two serious offenses: Aggravated Assault and Terroristic Act, reflecting the gravity of his actions. The charges underscore the potential danger such disputes can escalate into, highlighting the need for responsible pet ownership and conflict resolution.

During the arrest, Pemberton showed some resistance and was uncooperative, complicating the process but ultimately, he was taken into custody.
