Hicks, who once faced homelessness and jail time, has now celebrated three years of sobriety, marriage, and homeownership, thanks in part to the support from the community and law enforcement.

Rebecca credits much of her turnaround to Advanced Peer Recovery Specialist Kelli McHughes, who guided her through recovery and never lost faith in her potential.

The police department praised McHughes’ efforts in changing lives, emphasizing her role in community recovery initiatives.

For more information or assistance, Kelli McHughes can be contacted at 501-322-2061 or 501-268-3531.

I’m 3 and a half years clean after going to white county jail and then prison. There’s so many others I was in there with we have so many success stories. I like this article. There’s millions that never make it out of addiction and take it to the grave, or back to jail over and over. I kept hearing Kelli Mchughes name all the time for the 8 months I was in jail. She gave them girls hope to get clean out of jail and live better lives. It’s hard to change so I’m proud of Rebecca! Of course I went to prison and I went to a very special place in Newport after and they have helped transform us into totally different person.
