Don’t fall for this scam.

According to THV11, a Little Rock resident was scammed out of a whopping $10,000. The victim is telling her story to help others avoid losing their hard-earned money like she did.

Malware Scam Revealed

A woman from Little Rock, 86-year-old Sandra Young, fell victim to an online scam on May 8th.

She saw a message on her computer saying she had malware and looked up Microsoft’s number to check. Someone answered, claiming they owed her money and offered a $100 product renewal with a discount. They said she would get her money back.

When she checked her account, she saw $10,000 had been deposited by mistake. The scammer, pretending to be a Microsoft employee, panicked and asked for the money back. Although she felt suspicious, she returned the money because she thought she had contacted the real Microsoft.

The most disturbing part of this is that she looked up the number herself. So how did the scammers target her? Keep this in mind before any future discussions with tech support.
