Gunshots. Screams. And quick thinking by a good citizen!

Assault Leads To Gunshots For Police Attention

First police got a phone call in Paragould, Arkansas about a woman screaming.

Paragould deputies and Greene County Sheriff Brad Snyder arrived at the scene. Then they got another phone call. Gunshots were fired.

When the police arrived, they discovered a woman on the ground who had been hurt on her head. Next to her was a man who was said to have attacked her. A neighbor stepped in to stop the attack. This neighbor then fired gunshots into the air to get help and alert others to call the police, according to police who were at the scene.

The gunshots worked.

The suspect, Tyler O’Neal, 32, of Paragould was arrested that day. It was Friday when the arrest happened.

A helicopter was called in and the victim was airlifted to a Memphis hospital for proper medical attention.

O’Neal is being held Monday in the Greene County jail on a $50,000 bond.
