Fire Department Releases Statement “With Sadness” About Tragic Death In Arkansas

The people of Camden are grieving the loss of a well‑known figure who dedicated decades to public safety.

The Camden Fire Department announced that retired Driver‑Operator Gary Teague, a 20‑year career firefighter and longtime volunteer, died on September 25, 2026, at age 74. His service spanned the fire department and later the Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy, and he was survived by his son, Captain Lance Teague. Funeral services are scheduled for September 29 at Grace Baptist Church with burial at Chidester Cemetery.

Retired Firefighter Gary Teague Passes Away

Gary Teague served Camden as a Driver‑Operator for twenty years, later continuing as a volunteer firefighter, according to the Camden Fire Department announcement.

After retiring from the fire service, he worked at the Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy until his own retirement.

He was the son of the late Denzel Teague, a former Fire Chief, and the father of Lance Teague, who currently holds the rank of Captain with the Camden Fire Department.

Visitation is set for Monday, September 28 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Proctor Funeral Home, with funeral services on Tuesday, September 29 at 2:00 p.m. in Grace Baptist Church, followed by burial at Chidester Cemetery.
