The Melbourne School District has announced it has been awarded a 3-year 21st Century Community Learning Centers grant totaling $550,000 to support students and families across the district.

According to the district, the funding will help provide before-school and after-school academic programming along with meals for 170 students. The grant will focus on strengthening education in reading literacy, math, and science while also expanding supportive services for families.
School officials say the additional resources will create more opportunities for student achievement and academic growth while helping students succeed both inside and outside the classroom.
The district shared its excitement about the award, calling it a major investment in the future of Melbourne students and families.
The Melbourne School District said the program will begin providing expanded educational support opportunities during the upcoming school years as part of the 3-year grant cycle.
