A surprise honor under the lights at Searcy High School turned Senior Night on May 1, 2026 into an emotional and unforgettable celebration for one student whose story has already left a lasting impact across the community.

Isaiah “Bean” Toledo, a member of the Searcy Lions soccer program, was recognized during Friday night’s ceremony May 1, 2026

—not just as a senior, but as a powerful symbol of resilience after surviving a shooting last year that left him paralyzed from the neck down.

Toledo was introduced alongside his classmates and presented with a letterman jacket as the crowd and his teammates showed overwhelming support.

Following the presentation, the City of Searcy joined local first responders in honoring Toledo in a special way. Representatives from the Searcy Police Department, Searcy Fire Department, and NorthStar EMS presented him with honorary titles—naming him an honorary police officer, firefighter, and EMT.

The recognition highlighted not only Toledo’s courage, but also the unwavering support of his family, teammates, coaches, and the entire Searcy community.

Community Support Continues Through Recovery

On the night of May 13th, Isaiah Toledo, then 16 years old, was shot while driving home from a graduation party. The injury left him unable to feel anything below his chest, and he now faces a long road of recovery that may include lifelong paralysis.

Isaiah comes from a deeply rooted soccer family in Searcy, with brothers actively involved in local teams. His family continues to support him through surgeries, therapy, and ongoing care.

A community fundraiser has been established to help with medical expenses, rehabilitation, and necessary home modifications to make his living space ADA accessible.

Every donation goes directly toward his care as he continues his journey of healing.

Teammates say Toledo’s determination throughout his recovery continues to inspire them both on and off the field. Head coach Bronco King noted that Toledo’s influence reaches far beyond the game.

Looking ahead, Toledo says he plans to stay involved with the Lions during the postseason and hopes to use his story to encourage others facing difficult challenges after graduation.
