Office of the Governor of Arkansas Holiday Food Drive Collects Nearly 38,000 Pounds for Arkansans in Need

The Governor’s Holiday Food Drive Arkansas effort has collected 37,908.05 pounds of food, equaling 31,587 meals for families across the state. The donations have been delivered to the Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance for distribution statewide.

The 2026 total marks a 76.5% increase over last year’s 21,472 pounds collected.

Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders praised state employees for their generosity during the busy holiday season, noting the more than 75% increase compared to the previous year.

Sylvia Blain, CEO of the Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance, said the coordinated effort ensures donations reach communities quickly and efficiently.

The Arkansas Department of Corrections contributed the highest total weight at 9,259 pounds. The Arkansas Department of the Inspector General recorded the highest per-capita contribution at 32.6 pounds per employee. The Arkansas Department of Shared Administrative Services was named Rising Star after increasing its total collection by 1,422.2% over last year.
