Kay Thomas, 2026 Governor’s Arts Award Winner, Featured on Special Open Mic Interview with Bob Connell

Kay Thomas of Mountain View, recently honored with the Folklife Award as part of the 2026 Governor’s Arts Awards, is featured in a special Open Mic interview program with ArkansasRadio.com CEO and station manager Bob Connell.

The prestigious Folklife Award recognizes individuals who preserve and promote Arkansas’ cultural traditions, heritage education, and community history. Thomas has long been a leader in supporting Ozark arts and played a key role in helping develop and promote the Craft Grounds that began in 1973 at the Ozark Folk Center State Park in Mountain View.

Her contributions have strengthened cultural tourism, protected traditional skills, and preserved the unique Ozark way of life for future generations.

Thomas will be formally recognized during the Governor’s Arts Awards ceremony on March 13 at the Robinson Center in Little Rock, alongside other honorees from across the state.
