The public event titled “A Conversation with Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders,” scheduled for Tuesday, January 27, 2026 at 7 p.m. at Harding University’s Benson Auditorium in Searcy, has been officially canceled due to continued impacts from Winter Storm 2026.

Event organizers announced the cancellation citing hazardous travel conditions, slick roadways, and ongoing extreme cold across much of Arkansas. Officials say the decision was made out of an abundance of caution to ensure the safety of attendees, campus staff, and speakers.
Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders is Arkansas’ 47th Governor and the first woman to hold the office. Inaugurated on January 10, 2023, Sanders has enacted major initiatives including Arkansas LEARNS education reform, public safety investments, tax reductions, the Natural State Initiative, and reforms to streamline state government operations.
Prior to becoming governor, Sanders served as White House Press Secretary for President Donald J. Trump from 2017 to 2019, becoming the first mother to ever hold the position. A native of Pine Bluff and Texarkana, she is a graduate of Little Rock Central High School and Ouachita Baptist University, and resides in Little Rock with her family.
Organizers say any future scheduling updates will be communicated through official university and event channels once weather conditions improve.
Residents are encouraged to continue monitoring local forecasts and avoid unnecessary travel during the ongoing winter storm.
