A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for much of Arkansas from noon Friday through 6:00 p.m. Sunday, as a major winter system brings heavy snow, sleet, and ice to the region.

Forecasters say northern Arkansas could receive between 4 and 10 inches of snow and sleet, while central Arkansas may see 1 to 4 inches of sleet and snow accumulation. Southern and southeastern sections of the state could experience 1 to 3/4 inch of ice accumulation, increasing the risk of power outages and tree damage.
The warning includes portions of central, eastern, north central, southeast, southwest, and western Arkansas.
Officials warn that roads — especially bridges and overpasses — are expected to become slick and hazardous, and travel could become difficult or even impossible at times. The storm is also expected to impact the Friday evening commute.
Residents who must travel are encouraged to keep an emergency kit in their vehicle, including a flashlight, food, and water. Drivers are urged to slow down, allow extra stopping distance, and avoid unnecessary travel whenever possible.
For the latest road conditions, motorists can visit IDrive Arkansas and monitor local weather updates.
