The Walnut Ridge Police Department has released a statement regarding an active investigation into a late-night incident that occurred Friday, January 16, 2026.
According to police, officers were dispatched at approximately 10:47 p.m. to a report of an unresponsive male located in a parking lot following a reported physical altercation near Main Street Pizza.
The Walnut Ridge Police Department, Walnut Ridge Fire Department, and Medic 1 responded to the scene. Upon arrival, Sergeant Aaron Moore located the unresponsive individual in the rear parking lot and immediately began performing CPR with the assistance of a good Samaritan.
The individual was transported to Lawrence Memorial Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
Police confirmed that a suspect is currently in custody. The investigation remains active and ongoing. Out of respect for those involved and to preserve the integrity of the case, authorities said no names or additional details will be released at this time.
The Walnut Ridge Police Department stated it will continue investigating the incident and will provide updates as information becomes available and when appropriate.
