The artwork of Arkansas artist Dolores Justus Reuther will be featured throughout October at the England Center Art Gallery on the Arkansas State University-Beebe campus.

The public is invited to meet Justus and view her work during a free exhibit reception from 11:30 AM until 1:30 PM Monday, October 5, at the England Center Art Gallery, located at 201 North Orange Street in Beebe.

Justus is a Hot Springs-based painter, art director and designer whose expressive landscapes explore patterns of light, form, optics and abstraction.

Drawing inspiration from her early years in Oregon and her life in the South, Justus uses the natural world as a foundation for paintings that examine relationships between light, shape and visual perception.

“I’ve always had a strong identification with nature and am continually in awe of the depth of inspiration that it offers,” Justus said. “Despite all its variety, there are essential elements in it, and in us all, that we respond to. It is those universal, underlying truths that I seek to communicate in my own work.”

Her painting style combines traditional landscape imagery with abstraction and optical elements. Her work has been associated with the “new landscape” movement in contemporary American art.

Justus earned a bachelor’s degree in fine art from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in 1988.

During more than 30 years as a professional artist, her work has been included in more than 100 solo and group exhibitions across the United States and abroad.

Her artwork is represented in collections including the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts in Little Rock, the Alluvian Hotel in Greenwood, Mississippi, the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, Arkansas Children’s Hospital and the Historic Arkansas Museum.

Her work has also appeared on the cover of Elegant Homes Magazine and was featured on the HBO television series “True Detective” in 2019. Her artwork was also selected for Studio Visit Magazine, Volume 53.

In addition to her work as an artist, Justus owns and curates Justus Fine Art Gallery in Hot Springs. She has also worked as an art director and as owner of Justus Design & Marketing.

The Dolores Justus exhibit is open to the public throughout October.

Admission is free.
