United Way of White County will host its 5th Community Forum on Mental Health on Tuesday, September 15, with this year’s program focused on clergy and church staff.

The free forum will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Downtown Church of Christ.
The nondenominational event is designed to provide clergy and church staff with mental health resources, practical skills and information about self-care.
Organizers say clergy members are often among the first people approached when someone is experiencing depression, anxiety, stress or another mental health crisis.
However, not every pastor, minister or church staff member has received training for handling complex mental health situations.
The forum is intended to help connect clergy and church employees with local resources, techniques and counselors who may be able to provide additional help when those situations arise.
The program will also address the mental health and self-care needs of clergy members themselves.
Organizers say pastors and church staff can experience loneliness, depression, anxiety, stress and other challenges while caring for members of their congregations and communities.
The event is nondenominational and nonsectarian, and people of all faiths are welcome to attend.
There is no cost to attend.
Lunch will be provided, and organizers are asking attendees to pre-register.
The September 15 forum is sponsored by Capstone Wellness.
United Way of White County also thanked mental health program partners Capstone Wellness and Vince & Root Counseling for helping make the event possible.
The forum will run from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Downtown Church of Christ in Searcy.
