An exclusive video has just been released.
New footage shared with ArkansasRadio.com appears to show the chaotic response to a fight that resulted in multiple student arrests at Little Rock Central High School last Friday. You can watch it below.
Fight Breaks Out In Little Rock High School
The short, vertically recorded video appears to show a crowded area inside the school as students react during or immediately after pepper spray was deployed.
Because the footage does not clearly show the entire confrontation, ArkansasRadio.com cannot independently determine which students were involved in the fight or exactly when the recording began.
Little Rock Central High School Principal April Rike said 5 students were involved in the September 4 fight. A large group of students reportedly gathered to watch the confrontation.
Officials with the Little Rock Police Department confirmed that multiple students were arrested. Police have not publicly released the exact number of arrests, the allegations against each student or the students’ identities.
Rike said responders used pepper spray to break up the crowd and stop the disturbance. Students who were near the fight were also affected by the spray.
“A few students complained of being impacted by the pepper spray and were being treated and observed by our nursing staff,” the school’s message to parents stated.
Several parents reportedly arrived at the school after learning about the incident and the deployment of pepper spray.
School officials said normal operations resumed after the fight ended and responding officers determined that the scene was safe.
The students involved in the fight will face disciplinary action under the Little Rock School District’s Student Code of Conduct, according to Rike.
No serious injuries were announced in the school’s initial statement. Additional information about the arrests or disciplinary actions has not been released.
ArkansasRadio.com is withholding the identities of students visible in the submitted video because they appear to be minors.
