The 2026 collegiate football season opened in dominant fashion Thursday night as No. 2 Harding University defeated Northwestern Oklahoma State 76-0 at First Security Stadium.
The game was called early in the 4th quarter by mutual agreement between the coaches and officials after Harding built an overwhelming lead.
The Bisons produced a school-record 747 yards of total offense. Harding’s defense was equally dominant, holding Northwestern Oklahoma State without a single 1st down.
Quarterback Malik Young delivered a standout performance in his 1st career start. Young rushed for 162 yards and 3 touchdowns while throwing for 80 yards and another touchdown.
Andrew Miller added 84 rushing yards and 1 touchdown. Josh Strickland Jr. finished with 89 rushing yards as Harding’s ground attack controlled the game.
The victory marked the 1st win for new Harding head coach Roddy Mote. It also extended the Bisons’ home winning streak at First Security Stadium to 25 games.
Harding will travel to Southwestern Oklahoma State for its next game Thursday, September 10, with kickoff scheduled for 7 PM.
