A 19-year-old Walnut Ridge man was killed Monday night in a two-vehicle crash involving a passenger car and a tractor-trailer at the intersection of U.S. 67 and U.S. 67B.
According to a preliminary fatal crash report from the Arkansas State Police, the collision happened at approximately 8:20 p.m. Monday, Aug. 10, at U.S. 67 and U.S. 67B in Walnut Ridge.
The victim was identified as Landon Ellis, 19, of Walnut Ridge. Ellis was a passenger in a 2017 Chevrolet Sonic.
The Sonic was being driven by 22-year-old Carlos Sifuentes, also of Walnut Ridge.
According to the crash report, the Chevrolet was traveling north on U.S. 67B and was entering U.S. 67 when it pulled into the path of a southbound 2014 Freightliner.
The Freightliner struck the Chevrolet on its left side.
The impact sent both vehicles skidding approximately 310 feet south before they came to rest on the northbound shoulder of U.S. 67, according to investigators.
Ellis was killed in the crash. His body was held at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Walnut Ridge.
Sifuentes was injured and transported to Regional One Health in Memphis, Tennessee, according to the report.
The driver of the Freightliner was not listed among the injured.
The crash occurred under clear weather conditions, and the roadway was reported to be dry.
The crash was investigated by Sgt. Eric Wolf of the Walnut Ridge Police Department.
The Arkansas State Police preliminary report lists the incident as Fatal Crash No. 274 / Accident No. 262 for 2026.
The investigation remains preliminary, and additional information could be released as the investigation continues.
