A faculty member helping shape the future of dental education at Lyon College has been recognized with several prestigious national honors for her leadership, clinical excellence and commitment to pediatric dentistry.

Dr. Jessica Sliger, a board-certified pediatric dentist and adjunct faculty member at the Lyon College School of Dental Medicine, recently received multiple awards recognizing her achievements in patient care, education and professional leadership.

The honors come as Lyon College continues expanding its new School of Dental Medicine and strengthening clinical education opportunities for students across Arkansas.

Recognized Among Nation’s Top Young Pediatric Dentists

One of Dr. Sliger’s highest honors came from the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD), which selected her as one of its prestigious “10 Under 10” award recipients.

The national award recognizes early-career pediatric dentists who demonstrate outstanding leadership while making significant contributions to patient care, education and the dental profession.

Receiving the award places Dr. Sliger among the nation’s most promising young leaders in pediatric dentistry.

Multiple Professional Honors

In addition to the “10 Under 10” recognition, Dr. Sliger also received several other prestigious honors.

She was named:

Fellow of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry
Fellow of the American Laser Study Club
One of America’s Top 40 Under 40 Dentists by Incisal Edge Magazine, an honor sponsored by Benco Dental

She was also elected President-Elect of the Northwest District Dental Society of the Arkansas State Dental Association, further recognizing her leadership within the profession.

Supporting the Next Generation of Dentists

Dr. Sliger said she is honored to serve as an adjunct faculty member while helping Lyon College build its innovative dental education program.

“I am deeply grateful to represent Lyon College School of Dental Medicine as adjunct faculty and appreciate all the school is doing to build a strong and innovative dental education program,” Dr. Sliger said.

Recognition Reflects Lyon College’s Growing Program

Dr. Burke Soffe, founding dean of the Lyon College School of Dental Medicine, said Dr. Sliger’s accomplishments reflect the quality of faculty members helping educate future dentists.

“Pediatric dentists play a vital role in our students’ education by emphasizing prevention, behavior management and compassionate, patient-centered care from the earliest stages of life,” Dr. Soffe said.

He added that Dr. Sliger’s national recognition is well deserved and that her experience strengthens the school’s commitment to clinical excellence, service and outstanding patient care.

Growing Access to Dental Care

Now entering its second year, the Lyon College School of Dental Medicine continues expanding clinical education opportunities while increasing access to dental care through partnerships across Arkansas.

College officials say those partnerships are helping prepare the next generation of dentists while providing additional dental services to communities throughout the state.

Information about patient services offered through the Lyon College School of Dental Medicine is available through the college.
