Authorities have arrested a former Swifton police officer following an investigation into a reported sexual assault involving a juvenile.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from the Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division after the incident was reported on April 19, 2026.

On April 28, 2026, members of a U.S. Marshals Task Force arrested 31 year old Benjamin Drake Slagley of Swifton at a residence in town. He was transported to the Cross County Detention Center and booked on charges of Second Degree Sexual Assault, Residential Burglary, and knowingly Furnishing or Selling Alcohol to a Minor.

Investigators say Slagley was previously arrested in October 2025 on an arson charge following a fire at his home in August 2025. Authorities report that Slagley contacted 911 at the time to report that fire and later resigned from his position with the Swifton Police Department.
The investigation remains ongoing.
