A faculty member at Arkansas State University-Beebe is receiving regional recognition for excellence in education.

Dr. Kayla Sapkota, online associate professor of business at ASU-Beebe, has been named the recipient of the Outstanding Educator Award by the Association for Business Communication–Southwest during the Federation of Business Disciplines conference held in Richardson, Texas.
Sapkota, who has been a member of ABC-SW since 2017, was nominated by her peers and honored at the organization’s awards banquet. The ABC-SW region includes colleges and universities across Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas.
“Being involved in a professional organization has been such a rewarding experience,” Sapkota said. “ABC-SW has given me a wonderful community of practitioners who help me keep up with emerging issues and best practices, while also offering a space to share my own ideas and research. It has contributed to my growth as an educator. I’m very honored to receive this award.”
Dr. Blake Perkins, vice chancellor for academics at ASU-Beebe, said the recognition reflects Sapkota’s commitment to both her students and the academic community.
“Dr. Sapkota exemplifies the quality and commitment we strive for in our faculty,” Perkins said. “Her passion for teaching and continuous professional growth directly benefits our students and strengthens the learning environment at ASU-Beebe.”
ASU-Beebe, the state’s oldest 2-year college, serves students across campuses in Beebe, Searcy, Heber Springs, and at Little Rock Air Force Base, along with a wide range of online programs.
