Officials in Conway are reminding residents to stay alert around local waterways after a reported alligator sighting in Tucker Creek.

According to the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, the agency responded after the City of Conway received a report of an alligator spotted in Tucker Creek.
Wildlife officers searched the area following the report but were unable to locate the animal.
While alligator sightings are uncommon in the region, wildlife experts say alligators do exist in small numbers in parts of central Arkansas, particularly near creeks, lakes, and slow-moving waterways.
Authorities are urging residents and visitors to take precautions if they encounter an alligator.
What To Do If You See an Alligator
Officials say if you spot an alligator:
• Do not feed the animal
• Do not approach it
• Do not attempt to take photos or selfies with it
Anyone who sees the animal is asked to report the sighting immediately by calling 911 so authorities can respond and safely remove or relocate the animal if necessary.
Wildlife officials emphasize that keeping a safe distance and avoiding interaction with wildlife is the best way to prevent dangerous encounters.
Residents near creeks and waterways in Conway are encouraged to remain aware of their surroundings while walking, fishing, or spending time outdoors.
