Lyon College is inviting students, alumni, and the public to take part in a series of events honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and celebrating Black History Month through education, reflection, and community engagement.

The schedule begins Monday, Jan. 19, with the annual MLK Day luncheon and program at 11:30 a.m. in Patterson Dining Hall at Edwards Commons on the Lyon College campus in Batesville. This year’s theme is Mission Possible. The keynote speaker will be Marion A. Humphrey Sr., a former Lyon College trustee, retired circuit court judge, attorney, and longtime pastor. Black History Month programming continues with an alumni and student entrepreneurship panel on Feb. 4, a social experience talk on Feb. 11, “Scots Got Talent” on Feb. 18, and a film screening on Feb. 25. Events will be held in locations across campus, including Edwards Commons and the Lyon Business and Economics Building.

The series concludes March 7 with a Sneaker Masquerade Ball at 5:30 p.m. in Patterson Dining Hall. Tickets and sponsorships are available through Lyon College advancement.

Organizers say the events are designed to encourage learning, dialogue, and action while strengthening connections across campus and the Batesville community.
