Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders has signed Executive Order 26-02, authorizing supplemental funding from the Governor’s Disaster Response and Recovery Fund to support communities impacted by severe thunderstorms, flooding, and tornadoes on or about May 24, 2024.
The order amends a previous executive order and authorizes $20,000 to be obligated from the Fund under the authority of Ark. Code Ann. § 12-75-114. These funds will be used at the discretion of the Director of the Arkansas Division of Emergency Management to help defray program and administrative costs associated with disaster response and recovery efforts.
In the executive order, Governor Sanders cited widespread hardship and damage to citizens and public property following the May 2024 storms, which warranted additional state support to aid local jurisdictions in the recovery process.
The executive order was signed on January 15, 2026, and marked with the Great Seal of the State of Arkansas.
Communities affected by the 2024 severe weather events may see continued coordination between state and local emergency management officials as recovery assistance efforts continue.
