2.2 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Near Lynn in Lawrence County, Arkansas

A minor earthquake with a magnitude of 2.2 was recorded Tuesday evening, January sixth, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The tremor occurred at 5:24 p.m. local time, with the epicenter located approximately 1.7 miles west of Lynn, Arkansas, and about **26 miles northeast of Batesville.

The quake struck at a shallow depth of 1.2 miles, but as of January seventh, there have been no reports of residents feeling the shaking or any damage associated with the event. This seismic activity follows a cluster of small tremors in the same region, including several recorded near Lynn in late December 2025.

Officials encourage anyone who believes they felt the shaking to report their experience through the USGS Did You Feel It? tool, which helps scientists improve earthquake monitoring and mapping.
