Eagle Mountain Elementary School proudly unveiled its new playground, giving students a safe, engaging space to play, explore, and connect. The upgraded play area represents the power of community, generosity, and a shared commitment to childhood development.

Principal Mychelle Spivey emphasized the playground’s deeper meaning at the unveiling:

“Today is more than just an unveiling of a piece of playground equipment; it is a celebration of what play means for our students. Play is where friendships are built, imagination comes alive, and confidence grows. Recess is essential to their development, and this new playground reflects our commitment to a school where learning and laughter go hand in hand.”

Students shared their excitement as well. Emmy Gitz noted, “What started as a simple fundraiser to replace broken slides turned into this entire new structure. My friends and I have already enjoyed playing leapfrog on the new turf under the shade canopy.”

Melanie Treat highlighted the generosity behind the project, thanking donors and grant providers, including TORO Company ($10,000) and Casey’s Cash for Classrooms ($25,000), along with Baker Family Dentistry, Schmitt Templin, LLC, and numerous families and community members.

Student Olivia Milum added, “The total cost of the playground was just over $94,000. Every penny goes into the quality and safety that every kid can enjoy. I love the new playground because of the shade and the safer play areas.”

Principal Spivey closed the ceremony expressing gratitude to everyone who donated, volunteered, and supported fundraising efforts, calling the playground a true reflection of community collaboration and the importance of coming together to support students.
