The City of Searcy has received a $500,000 Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) grant from the Arkansas Department of Transportation — the maximum available under the program. The funding will go toward the Davis Drive Connection, a key segment linking Riverside Park to the city’s growing trail network.

The project includes a 12-foot-wide, 4,200-foot-long multi-use concrete path that connects Riverside Park on Highway 13 to the existing Searcy Bike Trail. This addition will create a continuous route from Riverside Park to the future Community Center and Outdoor Water Park.
“This project is an important step toward completing the larger trail system that ties all of Searcy together,” said Richard Stafford, Planning & Development Director. “Through the #MySearcy projects, this grant will fund the vital connection from Riverside Park to the rest of our trail system.”
The TAP grant builds on Searcy’s $4.2 million federal RAISE Grant awarded earlier this year, funding the design phase of the Little Red Greenway — a project that will expand the city’s 5.5-mile trail into a 21-mile active transportation network.
“Every new connection we build brings our community closer together,” said Mayor Mat Faulkner. “The Davis Drive and Little Red Greenway projects are helping make Searcy a place where people of all ages and abilities can move safely across our city.”
Both initiatives are part of the #MySearcy Master Plan, developed through extensive community feedback. For more details, visit cityofsearcy.org
