Arkansas has been hit hard by severe weather. The National Guard has held meetings with local officials to access the situation.
On April 5, 2025, Brig. Gen. Chad Bridges, Arkansas’ adjutant general, met with local authorities and Soldiers in Cave City, Arkansas. The meeting focused on coordinating the Guard’s efforts to assist communities hit hard by flooding in northeast Arkansas.
Troops Called In To Help Over Flooding In Arkansas
Guardsmen are strategically stationed across several locations in the region. Their primary role is to warn drivers against entering areas overwhelmed by severe flooding.
Meanwhile, the Arkansas State Police and Arkansas Game and Fish officers are actively rescuing individuals trapped by rising waters. These joint efforts aim to ensure the safety of those stranded.
Four high-water teams, operating out of Arkansas National Guard LMTVs, are deployed to support affected communities. These teams are based at the Mountain Home and Jonesboro Armories, ready to respond.
Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders has mobilized over 50 Arkansas National Guardsmen for the crisis. Their mission is to support and augment civil authorities as directed during this emergency.
The Guard’s presence is a critical lifeline for northeast Arkansas, where flooding has disrupted daily life. They remain on high alert, prepared to assist wherever needed.
