On February 8, 2025, Arkansas State Trooper Ervin Clokey attempted to stop a white and blue 2021 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R speeding at 140 MPH on Interstate 40 in Johnson County. The rider, Briar Vaughn, refused to comply, dangerously weaving through traffic. You can watch the dramatic chase footage below.
Man Tells Arkansas State Trooper Why He Fled After Getting Caught
Trooper Clokey reached speeds of 129 MPH but couldn’t close the gap. Sr. Cpl. David Smothers set up at Exit 55 to intercept the fleeing motorcyclist.
Vaughn attempted to exit but was forced to lay the motorcycle down when Smothers blocked his path. He was arrested without further incident.
Vaughn later told he officer that he didn’t want to lose his license.
The motorcycle was seized, and Vaughn faces charges.
