A man was pulled over by a state trooper in Salem, Arkansas. Then the situation reportedly escalated from there.
The suspect reportedly kept on driving for over 3 miles while being pursued by a police vehicle. Not only was “no proof of insurance” found by the officer, but law enforcement later reportedly found a bag with a substance which later tested positive as methamphetamine.
Traffic Stop Leads To Potential Drug Bust
On February 20, 2025, Aaron L. Roberts, 57, was arrested in Salem, Arkansas, following a traffic stop that escalated into a drug bust.
According to case files, the incident began when Arkansas State Police Trooper Corporal Taylor Woods clocked Roberts speeding at 94 mph in a 45 mph zone. Cpl. Woods reported pursuing Roberts for approximately three miles with sirens and lights activated before he stopped.
Roberts was arrested for the following reasons, according to Fulton County Sheriff’s Office:
-
No Proof of Insurance
-
Speeding Over 20 MPH
-
Failure to Yield to Emergency Vehicle
-
Careless and Prohibited Driving
It was only later that law enforcement reportedly found something during their search of the individual in question.
During a search at the Fulton County Jail, officers found a baggie in Roberts’ shirt pocket containing eight smaller zip-lock bags. The contents, a white crystalline substance, field-tested positive for methamphetamine and weighed over two grams.
Roberts now faces a Class B felony for possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, a Class C felony for furnishing a prohibited article, and misdemeanor traffic violations. The seized substances will be analyzed by the Arkansas State Crime Lab for confirmation.
Special Agent Gabriel Sanders of the 16th Judicial District Drug Task Force submitted an affidavit of probable cause on February 21, 2025. A magistrate reviewed the evidence and issued an arrest warrant, binding Roberts over for trial.
Authorities continue to investigate the case, with Roberts currently in custody awaiting further legal proceedings. The charges highlight ongoing efforts to combat drug-related crimes in Fulton County.
Please note: All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
