Police say they are searching for a man after he tricks people at grocery stores into letting him steal their wallets.

The Sherwood Police Department is requesting assistance in locating Melvin Penn, wanted for theft of property and financial identity fraud. You can view his photograph below.

Melvin reportedly frequents Walmart Neighborhood Market, Walmart Supercenter, and Sam’s Club in Sherwood.

Police say he targets elderly women by offering to help with their groceries, then steals their wallets.

Melvin uses the stolen credit cards at nearby businesses before victims notice, according to police.

He is known to drive an older red Mercedes-Benz.

Melvin has multiple felony warrants from Sherwood PD and other agencies in Central Arkansas.

Community members spotting Melvin should call the Sherwood Police at 501-835-1425.
